IDA Regattas
This is a description of the Regattas that IDA take active part in organising together with Dart Associations, National Federations and Yacht Clubs.
Open World Championship
The IDA organises, if possible, a Dart Open World Championship every year. The Class has held an Open World Championship every year since 1991. The World Championship is a 7 day event. It includes registration, measurement and a practice race, and naturally, several days of racing. When the World Championships are held in Europe, they are typically organised in July or August.
Open European Championship
When the Open World Championship is sailed outside Europe the IDA may organise an Open European Championship. European Championships have been sailed since 1978, when the Dart 18 became an ISAF International Class.
Open Championships
An Open Championship means there is no qualification requirement to take part. Naturaly, you need enough sailing experience, an unmodified Dart 18, and the required insurances. You will need to complete an application form and pay registration fee. The Racing Rules of Sailing, and the Notice of Race will advise you of any other requirements applying to that particular regatta. If you would like any more details about sailing in an Open Championschip, please contact your local national association (links are on the right hand side of the page) or the
